All American Road Designation

An All American Road designation is an honor because it speaks on the natural beauty of the Wisconsin Great River Road and recognizes it as a destination in and of itself. To be chosen, the byway had to possess multiple intrinsic qualities, ranging from archaeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational, and scenic qualities, all of which are both nationally significant and one of a kind. For Wisconsin, that means the beauty of the natural Driftless Region, the varied influences of past and present cultures including Native American, French, and German, and the history and magnificence of the Mississippi River, among other great qualities. With the All American Road title, the byway is now known as an exceptional traveling experience with beautiful views, natural anomalies, and historical attractions that encourage travelers to drive it as a primary reason for a trip.
