The museum, located in St. Louis’ famous Forest Park, has opened a new special exhibit; 6,000 square feet, with over 200 artifacts that explore the cultures that have sprung up around one of the greatest watersheds in the world.

Go back through time from the steamboats and factories of the industrial age, to the Indian fur trade networks, to the largest American Indian centers that called the Mississippi River region home over 1,000 years ago.

The Missouri Historical Society has one of the largest collections of intact Mississippian artifacts in the country.  It’s been 30 years since so many have been on display together and you do not want to miss this unique opportunity! The exhibit only runs through April 18, 2021 so get it added to your River Road Trip itinerary and see it while you can!

The museum is free to the public and perfectly located for a full day exploring St. Louis.  The Muny, the St. Louis Zoo, and the World Fair Pavilion are all nearby neighbors within Forest Park.
