Best of the River is focused on the best attractions, accommodations, food & drink, and trails & tours along the Great River Road from northern Minnesota down to the Gulf of Mexico.
Best Cultural Trail
1.Great River Road National Scenic Byway (MN-LA)
The Great River Road National Scenic Byway follows the course of the Mississippi River for 3,000 miles from northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.
2.Effigy Mounds National Monument (Harpers Ferry, IA)
The monument’s 14 miles of hiking trails will take you past the ancient mounds, through wooded bluffs and tallgrass prairies to scenic overlooks of the Upper Mississippi.
3.RiverWay Trails (Quad Cities)
The Quad Cities’ scenic stretch of the Mississippi River with almost 100 miles of area parks, trails and overlooks between the river bluffs.
4.Mississippi Blues Trail (MS)
Whether you’re a die-hard blues fan or a casual traveler in search of an interesting trip, you’ll gain a new appreciation for the area that gave birth to the blues.
