SEMO Eclipse Expo
Held in Cape Girardeau, the SEMO Eclipse Expo gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the universe and the latest advancements in scientific research. If you’re interested in astronomy, science, and/or the natural world, the expo is a must-visit event. Visitors can learn from experts, engage in hands-on activities, and experience the beauty and wonder of the universe. For the 2023 Expo, participants can also look forward to learning about the 2024 solar eclipse and about how to prepare for this event. Expo Exhibits and Events
The Expo is a two day event in Cape Girardeau featuring exhibits, presentations, and activities with a focus on educating visitors about astronomy and science. Here you will find displays on the latest discoveries and developments in space exploration, interactive demonstrations of scientific principles, and activities that are hands-on for exploring the natural world. Visitors will also get the rare opportunity to meet, learn from and interact with astronomy and science experts, like leading researchers, educators, and enthusiasts. Other events include lectures, workshops, and discussions with experts on a wide range of topics.

Inspiring STEM Education
Besides being an educational and thought-provoking event for adults, the SEMO Eclipse Expo also focuses largely on STEM education. Designed to inspire and educate young people about science, technology, engineering, and math, the expo is a great place to bring youth groups or kids. The expo offers a range of STEM activities and workshops, and gives young people the opportunity to learn about career opportunities in these growing fields. The SEMO Eclipse Expo will be held at the Show Me Center located on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The expo kicks off on Friday, July 21st from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm with a Friday evening panel discussion called “Get Ready for the 2023 and 2024 Solar Eclipses.” Visitors can then go to the public night sky observation following the panel until 10:00 pm. On Saturday, the all-day SEMO Eclipse Expo will be going on from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tickets are available now, and free for the public if you pre-register, otherwise, ticket purchases are $3 at the door.
