Steeped in history with its location on the Mississippi River, Cape Girardeau has a range of historical driving tours covering topics of historical significance within the town. Two great historical tours include the Civil War Tour and the Exploring Lewis and Clark Tour. The Civil War Tour will take you to over 12 historical sites including Fort D, the site of the Battle of Cape Girardeau, the smallpox hospital at the Minton House, and more. The Lewis and Clark Tour explores Lewis and Clark’s historic trail from when they first entered the Missouri territory in 1803. African American History Tour
Set during the late 1800s, the African American History Tour guides drivers through the world of Cape Girardeau during this time. The area has a rich African American history and will take you to a range of significant churches, squares, schools, and homes. Some spots include Ivers Square, Second Missionary Baptist Church, and St. James AME. This tour has outdoor sites that you can see from your car, as well as tours you can go and explore on foot.

Gone Girl Tour
The popular novel Gone Girl by author Gillian Flynn was adapted into a film in 2013, and Cape Girardeau became the set for the Missouri based story. The Gone Girl Driving Tour will take fans to the various filming locations around town to see what the filming process was like while the cast and crew were in town. The tour will also provide information about behind the scenes and cast and crew favorites. Fans can enjoy seeing the actual locations from scenes in the movie and the book while driving around on this tour.
