La Crosse, Wisconsin - November 23, 2021: La Crosse Winter Roots Festival taking place Saturday, February 12, 2022 has announced its special Winter Roots “Gazi” Black Lager and curated V.I.P. Experience Presented by the La Crosse Distilling Co.
The curated V.I.P. Experience presented by the La Crosse Distilling Co. includes early access to the show for a special craft hour, guests will receive a commemorative pint glass and sticker, a choice of a complimentary Fieldnotes Bloody Mary, the Winter Roots “Gazi” Black Lager, or soft drink. VIP ticket holders will also have access to a private viewing area near the main stage during the festival.
Musician meet and greets will also be hosted during the V.I.P. Experience and La Crosse Distilling Co. will serve additional craft beverages throughout the event and host special informative presentations with its Brand Ambassador.
Brewed at The La Crosse Distilling Co., the Winter Roots “Gazi” Black Lager, is a crushable dark beer specifically made for the La Crosse Winter Roots Festival, the beer gets its name from “Barbegazi” a mythological character with Swiss origins, it is usually described as a good natured gnome that resides in the mountains and uses his large feet for skis and returning to its cave to hibernate for the summer months. The Winter Roots “Gazi” Black Lager will be released during a special pre-party event held the evening before on Friday, February 11th, 2022 at the La Crosse Distilling Company.
The limited first price tier of VIP tickets is currently available until December 1, 2021, with subsequent price increases until sold out.
La Crosse Winter Roots Festival invites visitors and locals to celebrate music, regional cuisine, artists, makers, and brewers and distillers. This event, hosted at the La Crosse Center in what will be the newly constructed Riverside Ballroom, nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River, in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Musical entertainment for the La Crosse Winter Roots Festival includes regional favorites Dan Sebranek and Company, American Idol contestant Reed Grimm, popular alternative Reggae band TUGG, La Crosse’s #1 classic rock band The Remainders, and country music band Gregg Hall & The Wrecking Ball. Closing the night will be the Trippin Billies, the nation’s most renowned Dave Matthews tribute band touring the U.S. for close to twenty-five years.
Additionally, The Driftless Maker’s Exchange will be bringing in 20+ artists and makers to showcase and sell their wares. The Driftless Maker’s Exchange showcases painters, potters, craftsmen, and locally produced food vendors including package granola, syrups, dried foods, and many more in between.
La Crosse Winter Roots not only looks to celebrate the food and music culture of the La Crosse region but also to support those in our area who are in need. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse, who will be hosting various fundraising activities during the event including silent auctions. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item at entry. The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse is aiming to raise $10,000 and collect 5,000 pounds of food.

COVID-19
The CDC is continuing to update its guidance for organizing large events and gatherings. The La Crosse Center is committed to the safety of its staff and visitors and will follow suggested guidelines brought forward by the La Crosse County Health Department and the CDC. It is hoped that by February of 2022 an indoor event will be able to take place safely and that visitors will be eager to celebrate winter indoors in a way that they were unable to during the 2020 pandemic.

This La Crosse Winter Roots Festival will not only be utilized to showcase La Crosse County’s elevated food and drinks scene to leisure visitors but will also be used as an avenue to promote the new space to meeting planners and entities looking for a home for their events and conferences. The event will showcase the area’s heritage, craft beer scene and profile many of the attributes that make winter in La Crosse, Wisconsin so special. About The La Crosse Center
The La Crosse Center is in the process of completing a major renovation and expansion that is scheduled to be completed in late 2021. When completed the Center will have 120,000 square feet of multi-purpose space. The La Crosse Center plays host to state-wide conventions and sporting events, concerts, meetings, and more throughout the year and is a major driver in La Crosse tourism spending. The February date, while serving as a grand re-opening event, will also aid in bringing visitors to La Crosse during what is traditionally an off-season time of year for tourism spending in La Crosse County.
