Franconia Sculpture Park is Expanding!

Franconia Sculpture Park has been offering it’s 150,000+ visitors a year an “outdoor laboratory” where artists create and install big art. Large sculptures, land art, and performance have all been on display. But now, with the addition of 7,000 square feet of indoor community space, the nearly 45 acre sculpture park will be able to expand programming through the winter months. Introducing Franconia Commons, a new space where artists and visitors can interact.

~MORE THAN A VISITOR CENTER~

Franconia Commons, which will have its grand opening on Saturday, September 26th 2020, is more than just a visitor center. Within the space, Franconia will offer art making workshops, lectures and performances. Be sure to check out their events and programs page to see what will be happening when you plan to visit. A new Multigenerational Artmaking Workshop will be perfect for families who want to take a class together.

~ART GALLERY~

Franconia Commons will also include an indoor art gallery, with rotating quarterly exhibits featuring artists from across the globe and throughout Minnesota. The inaugural exhibition, “New Domestics” will celebrate artists from around the world who explore themes of domesticity in contemporary art. The Commons will also have a gift shop, a Visiting Artists project space, and a Cafe and Patio for visitors to enjoy.

~MARK THE DATE~

The Grand Opening of Franconia Commons is Saturday, September 26th from 3pm-9pm. Enjoy Minnesota-based bands Starcrossed, XOXOTECH, and Le Hearse. As well as food trucks, and tours of the new building and sculptures created in 2020, and artmaking demos by artists-in-residence. This event is free and open to the public with a $5 parking fee.

Franconia Sculpture Park provides physically and intellectually wide-open spaces that inspire new ways of thinking through access to contemporary sculpture, installation and land art. Located in the scenic St. Croix River Valley, Franconia operates a 43-acre outdoor museum, active artist residency program, and a depth and breadth of arts programming for a diverse and engaged public.
