Nikki Jean
Rhymesayers artist Nikki Jean warmed up the sold out crowd with a slow song performed on the keys before picking up the guitar. St Paul native with a degree in Sociology, Nikki Jean has built a successful career in acting, singing and songwriting with notable collaborations that include Grammy award winning artist Lupe Fiasco.
The Lioness
McNally Smith College of Music graduate The Lioness took the stage next with deeply poetic lyrics that reflect peace and love. Just as she shows in her music, The Lioness is well respected for her positive leadership, working closely with several organizations in her community.
Atmosphere
The whole building was shaking as Minneapolis living legends Atmosphere hit the historic First Avenue stage. Over 1500 fans immediately responded to Slug’s in-the-moment live presence, with clever lyrics often paying homage to his hometown and fans. Co-Leaders of independent Hip Hop label Rhymesayers formed in 1995, Atmosphere has long been an influential group in Hip Hop culture. They will be continuing “The Wherever Tour” through February with support from The Lioness, Nikki Jean, and DJ Keezy.
