BEST OF THE RIVER 2019 

Best of the River is focused on the best attractions, accommodations,  food & drink, and trails & tours along the Great River Road from northern Minnesota down to the Gulf of Mexico.

Best Public Art

1.Minneapolis Sculpture Garden (Minneapolis, MN)

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is one of the crown jewels of the city’s park system, uniting two of Minnesota’s most cherished resources—greenspace and its cultural life.

2.Dickeyville Grotto (Dickeyville, WI)

It is a creation in stone, mortar and bright colored objects-collected materials from all over the world. These include colored glass, gems, pottery, porcelain, and more.

3.Yarn Bombing / The Riverbend Yarnbombers (Alton, IL)

The Riverbend Yarn Bombers do an annual “Yarn Bomb”, a public art installation that uses knitted or crocheted yarn to create street art rather than paint or chalk.

4.Public Art in St. Louis (St. Louis, MO)

Creativity thrives in St. Louis. Sculptures, murals, fountains, mosaics and memorials are part of the fabric of the streets and parks of the region.

5.Wall to Wall Murals (Paducah, KY)

Paducah’s rich history is captured on the river city’s floodwall. These panoramic “Portraits from Paducah’s Past” overlook the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers.
