TRAVEL Stimulus Grant Allows Driftless Wisconsin to extend successful Come Out and Play! Campaign to Winter!

Driftless Wisconsin (November, 2020):  Driftless Wisconsin has received the Tourism Relief to Accelerate Vitality and Economic Lift (TRAVEL) Stimulus Grant from the state of Wisconsin.

The additional grant funding from Travel Wisconsin will allow for the continuation of the “Come Out and Play! Driftless Wisconsin: your outdoor recreation playground.” campaign which was awarded a JEM (Joint Effort Marketing) Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism designed to promote the area during the summer to potential visitors and help area businesses recover from the covid-19 economic crisis.

These grant funds are being used to extend funds to the fall and winter seasons advertising campaign directed at potential visitors including active, outdoor enthusiasts; experiential travelers; and families and couples who live in the regional drive market. The campaign is designed to drive visitors to the “doorstep” of small businesses and communities on the Driftless Wisconsin website, www.DriftlessWisconsin.com; those most in need of economic relief from the covid-19 crisis.

The theme of the campaign throughout the summer was about inviting visitors to “Come Out and Play! Driftless Wisconsin: your outdoor recreation playground.” This campaign will extend this campaign into the winter months to the end of the year, giving the area a boost during the winter months. The campaign builds on Driftless Wisconsin being an outdoor recreation haven, a primary marketing strength according to research. Visitors are looking for rural destinations away from city congestion. Driftless Wisconsin is well-positioned to welcome visitors anxious to escape to an area abundant with open spaces, tranquil settings, and welcoming communities.

“The economic crisis of 2020 has been tough on the tourism industry in the Driftless Wisconsin region. The TRAVEL Grant will help promote tourism businesses in the area through the “Come Out and Play” advertising campaign, which invites visitors to experience the outdoor recreation they crave during social distancing. The grant will also help our tourism organization recover from lost revenue during the pandemic,” said Eric Frydenlund, Administrator of Driftless Wisconsin.

Driftless Wisconsin received $14,000.00 from the TRAVEL Stimulus Grants. The money will be used for the administration, winter outdoor recreation imagery, content marketing, vacation sweepstakes, campaign social posts, branding, and digital advertising.

The marketing campaign runs through the end of the year and is geared towards visitors within a drive market radius including Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Iowa
