Grieves at the Fine Line Music Cafe
(Minneapolis, MN, US | Sept 18, 2019) The Great River Road is full of small town charm, sweeping vistas and fantastic hospitality. But sometimes – that’s not at all what you want.
Our friend Dylan, from Dylan Overhouse Productions, recently took a River Road Trip to Minneapolis, one of the major metro hubs along the Mississippi River, in search of crowds, cityscape, and the call of loud music seeping through a club door.
Just blocks off the Mississippi River but deep in the Minneapolis Warehouse District, you will find Fine Line. The building is over 100 years old and has been hosting bands for more than three decades. The club has featured artists like the Pixies, Sheryl Crow, Cowboy Junkies, and more. Even Prince was seen hanging out there back in the day.
Based out of Seattle, Grieves is a hip-hop artist who has toured with some of indie rap’s finest, including artists like Atmosphere, Macklemore, Watsky, Chris Webby, P.O.S and many more. He emerged in 2007, releasing five full-length studio albums since.
A Phoenix, Arizona artist, Mouse Powell creates multi genre music with a focus on maintaining a Hip Hop aesthetic. His 2018 album “First Love” was crafted with pointed honesty and humor. With a soundscape that draws from Powell’s love for soul and blues music.
A first-generation American of Ethiopian descent, born in Maryland before moving to Minnesota at the age of three. Lu first picked a notebook up after watching 8 Mile as a kid. Student 1 embodies an upbeat approach to interrogating the questions of life.
