Cold War Kids and Overcoats at First Avenue
Critically acclaimed female duo Overcoats started off the night at First Avenue with their Brooklyn-based Swedish-Pop melodies. Fans sung along with “The Fool”, which made NPR’s “Top 20 songs of September” list. Overcoats will be releasing their second full-length album this spring.
Hailing from Long Beach, California, Cold War Kids brought their distinctive bluesy-punk sound to Minneapolis. Thick fog rolled through the stage as Nathan Willetts soulful vocals rang across the sold-out crowd. Amongst them, a few lucky fans were given shakers to play during the song “We used to vacation”. Cold War Kids hit single “First” was awarded ‘Most played song on alternative radio of the decade’ and they also recently released the first album of a trilogy: ‘New Age Norms 1’.
