Best of the River is focused on the best attractions, accommodations,  food & drink, and trails & tours along the Great River Road from northern Minnesota down to the Gulf of Mexico.

Best Parks to Stay 

1.Pere Marquette State Park (Grafton, IL)

Native stone and rustic timbers blend with the new to provide first-class accommodations in an historical setting. 50 spacious guest rooms and 22 stone guest cabin rooms.

2.Yellow River State Forest (Harpers Ferry, IA)

One quarter of the campsites are available for self registration on a first come first-serve basis.  Equestrian campsites available. One camping cabin is available to rent

3.Perrot State Park (Trempealeau, WI)

Perrot State Park offers 102 campsites in their family campground and 4 walk-in group campsites that accommodate at least 20 people at each site.

4.Natchez State Park (Natchez, MS)

50 Developed Camping sites, 8 Tent Camping sites, 10 Lakeside Vacation Cabin units, and a Laundry Facility located in the Campground bathhous

5.Itasca State Park (Park Rapids, MN)

Itasca State Park manages multiple campgrounds.  The Headwaters Cafe is a cafeteria restaurant located in the Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center is open seasonally.
