Best Native American Cultural Site

Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site (Collinsville, IL)

The remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric native civilization north of Mexico are preserved at Cahokia Mounds located just across the river from St. Louis, MO.

Effigy Mounds National Monument (Harpers Ferry, IA)

The monument covers over 2,500 acres and protects more than 200 American Indian mounds created by the Woodland people between 3,000 and 800 years ago.

Wyalusing Effigy Mounds (Harpers Ferry, IA)

Wyalusing features family and group camps, hiking trails, a canoe trail, Native American burial mounds, bird watching, fishing, boating, bicycling and more.

Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site (Wickliffe, KY)

A Native American village once occupied the site of Wickliffe Mounds. Here, people of the Mississippian culture built homes overlooking the Mississippi River.

Perrot State Park (Trempealeau, WI)

Perrot State Park, where the Trempealeau River meets the Mississippi River, offers breathtaking views from 500-foot bluffs. Provide wonderful habitat for many migratory birds.
